The age of the moon

Theories 290x300 The age of the moon
Dear sir,
Sometimes significant science discoveries are almost completely missed by the media. The following is a good case in point.
New images from one of NASA’s spacecraft have revealed small scarps (small cliffs) all over the moon, indicating that it’s not cold and dead as has been conventionally believed. (The research team that made this discovery was led by planetary geologist Dr Thomas Watters of the Center for Earth and Planetary Studies.)

The scarps are relatively small. Some are 100 meters high and several kilometers long. What these scarps mean is that the moon is shrinking. The entire crust of the moon has contracted. The most likely driving force for the crustal contraction is cooling of the moon’s interior.

Current naturalistic thinking has the moon forming some 4.5 billion years ago and consisting of an ocean of lava initially, molten likely over its entire radius. With time the lava solidified and the moon continued to cool until all the heat sources dissipated long ago. For the past 3 billion years the moon is believed to have been cold and dead.

The clue to the recent formation of the scarps is the fact that many cut right through craters.

The presence of these scarps indicates that the moon is young, and the evidence is totally consistent with the Biblical age of about 6000 years. Once again good science supports the Bible and contradicts the hot-air theories of evolutionists.

Yours sincerely,
Richard Gunther
